How 'Collegedunia' experienced performance boost with E2E's Infrastructure

Problem

It is crucial for an online business to ensure a high-quality user experience, essential elements for this is properly architecting, managing & optimizing the underlying compute infrastructure. In the present case, Collegedunia.com was using an extensive database incorporating in-depth details of numerous colleges and universities. A synopsis of their database –

• 15000+ college/university course information across India
• 20+ streams covered such as Engg., Dental Sciences, Arts, Management.
• 178 competitive exams detailed directory
• 34,838 reviews and ratings

Running on a Virtual Private Server with traditional hard disk drives The website was facing issues with page load times, especially while displaying search results, thus leading to poor user experience. The IOPS (Total number of I/O operations per second) were slow with traditional HDDs (approx.150-200) which was leading to performance degradation. Around 70% of the traffic was coming from mobile platforms, with increasing number of app installs, resulting in ever increasing load on the database.  

E2E Networks Solution

We migrated CollegeDunia from a third party Virtual private server to one of our dedicated compute nodes. Appropriately matched compute resources, including RAM/ CPU & SSD (for high IOPS) storage delivered the required performance. With an ever-expanding database size and increasing number of mobile app installs (500,000+), E2E Networks designed a scalable, secure and high-performance (compute infrastructure) solution for Collegedunia. The number of IOPS went to a whopping 2500-3000 from the previous number of 100-200. Besides this (enhanced performance) our experts also helped Collegedunia in identifying and resolving a Redis vulnerability.
