PHP 5.5 Installation on CentOs

Introduction:

PHP is a server scripting language, and a powerful tool for making dynamic and interactive Web pages. PHP is a widely-used, free, and efficient alternative to competitors such as Microsoft’s ASP.

To install, first you must add the Webtatic EL yum repository information corresponding to your CentOs version to yum. Enter the following commands to add Webtatic EL yum repository:

$ rpm -Uvh https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-6.noarch.rpm

$rpm -Uvh https://mirror.webtatic.com/yum/el6/latest.rpm

To install PHP, enter the following command:

yum install php55w php55w-opcache

Restart the Apache service:

 systemctl restart httpd.service
